DescriptionThis course is an introduction to the field of Natural Language Processing. It covers theoretical foundations, taught by Maxime Amblard, unplugged computer science activities that I supervise with Maxime Amblard, and practical tutorials that I have given with different teacher assistants over the years.
ContextI taught this course to first year Master students in Natural Language Processing at the IDMC, Université de Lorraine, France.

Unplugged Computer Science Activities

We supervise several unplugged computer science activities during this course. They can be found (in French) with other activities on Marie Duflot's website.

The goal of these activities is to introduce students to the two reasoning paradigms of Natural Language Processing: symbolic and statistical. The activities are designed to be done in groups and without a computer, to encourage students to think about the underlying principles of the methods and to foster discussion.

Tutorials

Under construction.
